Are the people you serve asking for help with public and private health insurance problems? Are they confused by the overall complexity of health care and Medicaid’s ever-changing requirements? Do they hit barriers to getting the care they need to stay healthy, prevent deterioration in their health status, or improve their health? New York’s Community Health Advocates program (CHA) can help.
CHA is a statewide network of community-based organizations, funded through the Affordable Care Act, to help educate consumers and advocates about their options regarding access to health care. CHA helps New Yorkers find and use affordable, quality health coverage in their community. You can get help from CHA whether you are privately insured, publicly insured, or uninsured. If you don’t have health insurance, CHA can help you get care through local health centers and hospital charity care programs. Over the past ten years, CHA has helped nearly 150,000 New Yorkers.
NYAIL is partnering with the Center for Independence of the Disabled, NY to expand CHA services to people with disabilities statewide. CIDNY is available to offer presentations and individualized assistance to Independent Living Center consumers and staff via phone, email, or webinar. NYAIL and CIDNY are presenting a regular series of webinars in 2012. Webinar topics will include Medicaid Buy-In for Working Persons with Disabilities; Medicare; commercial insurance; options for the uninsured; health homes; Managed Long Term Care options; changes to Medicaid including home care and pharmacy benefits, new coverage limitations, elimination of most exemptions and exclusions; and other emerging health care issues. Visit NYAIL's Training & Education page for archived presentations.
